An outstanding start to our season, winning all rinks and having a big advantage in the shot aggregate. Well done, everyone.
Many thanks to those who came into the squad over the last week to fill gaps, Mike R, Barry W, Jim G and, on Saturday morning, Steve W. Our two young bowlers, Harry A and Freddie K, also both had good games in this company.
The star rink was Graham S’s (with Cliff C, Harry A and Mick H) who were never under pressure, winning 33-6.
Mike R’s rink (John S, Steve W and Mel M) led 9-6 after a closely fought start to the game, then pulled away to win 27-10.
Jim Gott (playing with Mike E, John M and Barry W) got off to a strong start to lead 18-3, and won 20-13 as Stamford rallied towards the end.
Derek S’s rink (Steve B, Freddie K and Rob D) started well to lead 13-4, but Stamford came back strongly to be 16-16 with one end to go; winning the last end gave us the game 19-16.
The next match is against Grantham, away, on 10 October; the team sheet should be on the board by 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday 29th September.
